Nothing salacious or exciting, I’m afraid.

Technically, I have now written a post and therefore not failed my challenge, even though I have written absolutely nothing of any interest to anyone.

I think I may give up on this silly challenge, as I don’t have time at the moment, and I’m finding it difficult to know what to write. I really should be spending my time sorting my life/ finding a new job instead of blogging, anyway. So the challenge is off. Probably. Unless I can think of anything quick, interesting and worthwhile to write tomorrow.

I am back at work today … and actually writing this from my cosy little SLT room.  When I woke up at 7.30 this morning (and pressed the snooze button for another half hour’s kip), I regretted my decision to come into work.  I mean, 2nd Jan is technically still Christmas, isn’t it?

I’m limiting myself to ten minutes to write this post as I have lots of reports to do today, and some appointment letters to send out.  Plus a couple of irate mothers to call back (can’t wait!).

I’m meeting up with E. again tomorrow plus the other member of our little trio (A.) for exchange of Christmas gifts.  Only problem is that I haven’t actually bought the bloody things yet (or thought about what I am going to get).  A. also has two young children so I need to get them pressies, too.  I’m not looking forward to hitting the shops this evening, I must say, although at least the sales are in full swing, which means I may be able to grab a bargain or two.

Anyway, dear readers, I will love you and leave you now.  Think of me here slogging away for the rest of the day as you lounge in front of the TV stuffing your faces with the last of the chocolate covered Brazil nuts and mince pies.  I’ll be back (with more drivel, no doubt) tomorrow!

My aim is to improve my writing skills (?!).  I am not sure if this is something that can be learnt (e.g. from a book) or whether I just need to practise to improve.  Things I find difficult/ problem areas:

1. not being able to say what I want in a succinct way and ending up writing loads of waffle (which I then can’t be bothered to edit);

2. reverting to lists as a way of getting round the above (this post being a case in point!);

3. spending way too long editing and revising a post, so that blog writing becomes a chore and not something enjoyable;

4. not always having anything to write about

5. not sounding like myself in my blog posts.  (In particular, I feel  my posts lack in humour sometimes and can sound clinical … like I’m writing a SLT report!)

Anyway, the challenge starts now, so we’ll see how it goes.  Any writing tips would be appreciated!

I have subscribed to reader to help manage the growing number of blogs that I read.  I added my own blog to the list, and worryingly, it turns out that two posts that I published then deleted have appeared on the feed.  (Actually I decided to change the original post to anonymise it, and then republished it). 

So, my question is … does everything published on a blog automatically show up in feeds even if it is deleted at a later date?

Yikes, if that is the case.

I may import some of my better (in my opinion) posts from my previous blog, cos it seems a shame that it’s all just sitting there slowly decaying in cyber space.  On the other hand I may not – new beginnings and all that.  And I’m probably going to tell people about this blog – unlike the other one where only a selected few friends were party to my secret.  On verra.

Normal blogging service, i.e. drivel, rants, ramblings, talking shite, has resumed.  Hooray!
