Mini rant about joint email accounts

Why is it that some people, when they marry or couple up, suddenly feel the need to have a joint email account?

Genre:

steveandemma@…

mattandjulie@…

clairanddave@…

… and so on.

It smacks of smug-show-offy-ness to me. 

I know you’re a couple.  Everyone does.  You don’t need to broadcast it further!

And don’t you want to have a bit of privacy?  Do you feel you have to share everything with your partner?

Joint email accounts = definitely not for me.
