Actually, I don’t really mean nothing at all, of course.  I have a bit of work to do, and some cleaning and vaccuming… and a couple of parcels to pack up and send … but I have nothing totally urgent that stops me from doing what I really want to do … which generally at the moment seems to be vegging out in front of iPlayer due to sheer exhaustion!

Last night I went out for dinner with the MC and Gastropunk,  which was nice.  We went to a restaurant in Highbury (Upper Street), called Gem.  It’s a Kurdish restaurant and the food was fab.  (I thought it was a Turkish restaurant, but have just discovered that this is not the case in a Time Out review).    I had some kind of aubergine dip thingy for starters and then sis kebab for main course.  The starter was delicious, and the kebab was yummy too.  Then they give you a baklava and ice cream dessert, which was lovely.  Click on the Time Out link for a more comprehensive review of the restaurant … although I must say, I would disagree with their 3 star rating … I would give it 4 out of 5!

Having been locked away in the clinic all day with screaming kids (very difficult day yesterday!) I felt like I had been released from prison when I eventually got to the restaurant.  I fear I may have talked way too much, and about speech therapy in particular, so I am hoping I didn’t bore the pants off them!

On a much more interesting note, we also talked about glory holes, underground rivers in London (Gastropunk is an expert on all things related to London’s history) and panda groaners (which for some reason Maths Chick was convinced that I had had a job in a factory making once … not sure why!).

I’m feeling a bit hungover today, even though I only had one glass of wine.

Whatever you do, don’t get your hair cut in a backstreet hairdressers. 

However, cheap it is (£2), however nice the hairdresser (very) and however desperate you are to sort out your straggly locks (extremely), DO NOT DO IT!

I did and am very much regretting it. 

(Think mullet/ bowl hybrid only worse.  With a very short fringe.)

Tomorrow I’m off to buy some heavy-duty headbands that will hopefully cover the worst until it’s grown back.  And given how short the front is, that will probably be sometime next summer.
